On an official visit to Doha, Charles Michel first inaugurated the new diplomatic mission of the European Union in the Gulf emirate.

A proof, according to him, of the “

political will of the EU to strengthen its ties with Qatar

 ”.

Various topics of common interest were discussed, starting with the energy dossier.

Qatar is an important lever for meeting these extremely difficult challenges,

" said the President of the European Council in a press briefing.

Europe

is indeed seeking to diversify its gas supply sources so as to no longer depend on Russia

.

However, Qatar is one of the largest producers of liquefied natural gas in the world.

But its exports are so far mainly intended for Asian countries.

However, no public announcement regarding a new agreement has been made to date.
