Permanent water offers in Abu Dhabi reduce prices by up to 64%

Consumers in Abu Dhabi said that permanent price reductions for water bottles in various outlets and cooperative societies in the emirate led to a 64% reduction in prices.

A tour of "Emirates Today" in a number of outlets showed a great diversity of offers, including different brands, most of them local.

An official at outlets told «Emirates Today», that the offers are due to the presence of strong competition in the market between water companies, especially that the country's markets include about 40 brands of water of high quality.

In detail, the consumer, Mona Ismail, said that there are permanent offers of discounts on the prices of water bottles in various outlets and cooperative societies in Abu Dhabi, which led to a reduction in their prices by up to 58%.

She explained that one of the water bottling companies offered to reduce the price of bottled water (12 bottles of 200 milliliters per bottle), from 9.6 dirhams to 4.5 dirhams, with a reduction of 53.1%, and another company, in a simultaneous offer, reduced the price of six bottles (1.5 liters each). From 11.7 dirhams to 4.9 dirhams, with a discount rate of more than 58%.

Mona Ismail called on sales outlets to include offers for large packages intended for home use.

The consumer, Wafaa Jalal, said that mineral and bottled water companies constantly offer reduced price offers on many of their water products in various outlets, which led to a reduction in their price by up to 64%.

She added that one company offered 12 water bottles of 500 milliliters each, bringing its price down from 12 dirhams to 4.5 dirhams, a decrease of 62.5%, while another company reduced the price in another offer (six bottles of 1.5 liters each) from 10.8 dirhams. to 3.9 dirhams, a decrease of about 64%.

Jalal indicated the availability of value-added offers such as (buy five packages and get the sixth free), or (buy 11 packages and get 12 free).

The consumer, Saleh Mohammed, confirmed that there are permanent price offers on water in Abu Dhabi outlets, so that hardly a week is free of strong offers for a number of local companies producing in particular.

And he indicated that in one of the offers, one company reduced the price of (24 cans of 200 milliliters each) from 20.4 dirhams to 8.9 dirhams, a decrease of 56.4%, and another company in another offer reduced the price (six cans of 1.5 liters each) from 11.7 dirhams to 4.2 Dirhams with a decrease of 64.1%, in addition to value-added offers.

For his part, an official in one of the major outlets in Abu Dhabi, Abu Bakr Hafeez, said that the strong offers among water bottled companies are due to the presence of strong competition between these companies, especially since the local market includes about 40 high-quality water brands, including a large number of Local signs next to foreign signs.

He added that there is a great demand from consumers for discount offers, which supports consumers and at the same time helps companies increase their sales.

He explained that the offers usually do not include large sizes, as consumers prefer, due to their size, to agree with companies to deliver them to homes.

An official in another outlet, Idris Ibrahim, agreed that the intense competition is behind the strong offers in the local market, which are permanent offers on a weekly basis according to different companies.

He said that the inclusion of large bottles of water in the offers requires discussing the matter with the producing companies, noting that he expects some of them to agree to put up offers for them in the coming period.
