The China State Grid Corporation, the largest public electric utility corporation in the world, has expanded its presence in the region by opening an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre. .

The new office will support the region in advancing the energy transition by focusing on electricity transmission and distribution across its core business areas of investing in, building and operating electric power networks.

The China State Grid Corporation has made successful investments in enhancing the efficiency of electric utilities regionally in the Sultanate of Oman and internationally in Italy, Portugal, Greece and the Philippines, in addition to operating the basic electric power networks in Brazil, Australia and Chile.

The Corporation's total foreign investments amount to $23.2 billion, while its equity capital abroad is about $65 billion.

Moreover, the UAE and China enjoy strong and solid relations and share a strategic vision for cooperation in the fields of energy, technology, green economy and digital economy.

Commenting on the establishment of the office, Arif Amiri, CEO of the DIFC Authority, said: “The DIFC continues to attract companies from all over the world that can participate in our future economic growth, and among these companies is the Chinese Government Network Corporation, which today established its presence in Center.

Through the strategic initiative of the UAE to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, the country is intensifying its investments in renewable energy to protect the future of future generations.

As the largest electric utility company in the world, the China State Grid Corporation is qualified to support the country and the region as a whole in achieving these ambitions.”

For his part, the chief representative of the China Government Network Corporation office in the Middle East, Zheng Zhongliang, said: “The establishment of an office for us in the Dubai International Financial Center is a very important achievement for our institution towards expanding our presence in the Middle East market, especially in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, such as the UAE The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which are at a significant stage in the energy transition process.
