Business tourism in the Emirates exceeds its levels before “Corona”

Officials of tourism and travel agencies in the country said that business tourism in the UAE recorded a growth of more than 20% this year, compared to the rates prevailing during 2019, before the "Corona" pandemic.

They explained to "Emirates Today" that the UAE's policy is to encourage business and the great investment opportunities that it provides in various economic and commercial fields, in addition to the global reputation it has gained in organizing exhibitions, conferences and major meetings, and continuously developing tourist destinations, as well as facilities for residence and visas, and procedures. The precautionary measures that it applied during the "Corona", and the high levels of vaccination, supported the high rates of business tourism.

They expected that business tourism would continue to grow during the coming period, in light of the continued economic growth and the continuous facilities that the UAE provides to visitors, noting that the UAE continues to take mechanisms that encourage the growth of tourism, including business tourism.

In detail, the CEO of "Nirvana" for tourism and travel, Alaa Al-Ali, said that "business tourism in the UAE recorded a growth of up to 20% during the current year, compared to its levels during 2019, before the Corona pandemic," explaining that "the precautionary measures implemented by the Emirates." For his part, Riyadh Al-Faisal, a travel and tourism consultant, said that "the UAE has succeeded in returning business tourism this year to its strength, and even exceeded its levels that prevailed before Corona, by at least 20%."

He explained that «the significant improvement in business tourism during the current year, despite some unfavorable international conditions, came as a result of the great investment opportunities provided by the UAE in various economic fields in general, which contributed to supporting business, as well as the success of the UAE and its great reputation that it has gained. In organizing exhibitions, conferences and meetings that provide great opportunities for communication between business owners and officials, in a completely safe environment, which contributed to supporting this industry.”

Al-Faisal pointed out that the facilities for residence and visas have supported the success of the UAE in adding a continuous momentum to business tourism.

Wael Salem, sales manager at MK Travel and Tourism, agreed that “business tourism has grown by more than 20% during the current year, compared to 2019 before (Corona), after the years 2020 and 2021 witnessed some declines and fluctuations, As a result of the pandemic and the restrictions placed by the countries of the world on travel.”

He explained that "the UAE's policy of encouraging business and enacting laws that support trade and investment of all kinds, as well as the facilities in granting visas and the UAE's keenness to develop its tourism destinations, are among the factors that contributed to the UAE becoming one of the most important business tourism destinations regionally and globally."

The Director-General of the Jasmine Travel and Tourism Company, Salah Khaled Salem, confirmed that “business tourism in the UAE has reached high levels, exceeding its levels during the past three years, and this is due to the success in implementing precautionary measures during (Corona), and high vaccination rates, as well as its efforts.” The continuous improvement of the business climate, and the enactment of laws that support this trend, such as allowing the establishment of companies with 100% foreign ownership.”

He noted that "the UAE's policy in granting visas to tourists and business owners is very encouraging, especially as it is open to most nationalities, which has supported the movement of tourist attractions," noting that "the UAE continues to develop tourist attractions and innovation in business tourism, exhibitions and conferences, which supported it as a major destination. In the Emirates, the tourism expert, Saeed Al Hammadi, stressed the importance of business tourism, which is a major component of tourism in the Emirates, along with leisure tourism.
