China News Service, August 18th, the Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference on the 18th.

In response to a reporter's question, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Shu Jueting said that the US announced the launch of the so-called "US-Taiwan 21st Century Trade Initiative" negotiations and announced the so-called "negotiation mandate".

China firmly opposes this.

Shu Jueting emphasized that the one-China principle is the premise of Taiwan's participation in foreign economic cooperation.

China always opposes any form of official exchanges between any country and the Taiwan region of China, including negotiating and signing any agreements with sovereign connotations or an official nature.

The Taiwan issue is the most important, sensitive and core issue in Sino-US relations.

The U.S. side should abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques, earnestly implement the commitment made by the U.S. leader not to support "Taiwan independence", handle economic and trade relations with Taiwan prudently, and fully respect China's core interests.

This concerns the overall situation of China-US relations, China-US economic and trade relations, and world peace, stability and prosperity.

China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard sovereignty, security and development interests.
