China News Service, August 18 (Xie Yiguan, a reporter from China-News Finance and Economics) Recently, the continuous high temperature and dry weather have become the biggest threat to crops in many places.

"It's corn tasseling and silking now, but under the high temperature and drought, pollination is seriously affected, and there are many empty trees." Zheng Jie (pseudonym), who lives in Zhumadian, Henan Province, is worried about the impact of high temperature on crops, and often goes to the fields in the evening to see crops.

  How hot is this summer?

According to the National Climate Center, as of August 15, the high temperature event has lasted for 64 days.

The National Climate Center recently monitored and assessed that the comprehensive intensity of regional high temperature events since June 13 this year has reached the strongest level since complete meteorological observation records began in 1961.

Data map: On August 13, the dry waters of Poyang Lake were photographed near the attached dam of No. 10 Xiaoyang, Zhouxi Town, Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province.

The affected area of crops is 17.64 million mu

Affected by the continuous high temperature and little rain, drought conditions in some areas of the Yangtze River Basin developed rapidly.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Management, as of 3 p.m. on the 16th, 783,000 people in 6 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River basin, including Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Anhui, needed life assistance due to drought, and the affected area of crops was 17.64 million mu.

According to the data previously disclosed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the area of autumn grain exceeds 1.3 billion mu.

At present, the middle rice in the south has gradually entered the heading and flowering stage, and the summer corn has entered the tasseling and silking stage.

The China Meteorological Administration pointed out that the current is the critical period for the formation of autumn grain crop yields in the south, and it is also the most sensitive period to temperature and moisture.

"It hasn't rained for more than a month, and it's steamed and roasted at high temperature every day. The 40 acres of rice I planted have long been short of water and dried up. The biggest crack in the field is more than 10 cm, and the seedlings are basically dry." July 12 Today, in the paddy field of Wang Xingqiong, a farmer from Group 2 of Helou Community, Mulan Town, Langzhong City, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, the paddy fields are full of cracks.

"Judging from the current situation, some farmland in some areas will have an impact, some cannot be sown, and some will be affected." Li Guoxiang, a researcher at the Institute of Rural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told a reporter from Zhongxin Finance and Economics.

Vegetable production in some areas affected

In addition to local food crops, high temperature and drought also affected vegetables in some areas.

According to Wang Li of Wuhan Baishazhou Big Market Information Center, the weather is even hotter after the "Little Summer" festival in the lunar calendar in July. Such a climate not only affects Wuhan, Hubei, but also other cities across the country. Extreme weather affects the production, transportation and sales of vegetables. Inconvenience caused, vegetable prices continued to rise in July.

Wang Li also mentioned that the weather in July has a great impact on leafy vegetables in the local suburbs. Under extreme high temperature weather, leafy vegetables are basically not long during the day, and can only grow at night, and the yield is seriously insufficient.

The average price of pakchoi at the beginning of the month is 2.6 yuan/kg, the average price in the middle of the month is 4.6 yuan/kg, and the average price at the end of the month is 4.58 yuan/kg.

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the average wholesale price of vegetables in July was 3.96 yuan/kg, up 19.9% month-on-month and 21.3% year-on-year.

In some places, the tea tree and fruit trees on the mountain are seriously lacking in water.

The continuous high temperature also affects the growth of crops such as fruit trees and tea trees.

According to Yangzi Evening News and other media reports, due to the recent severe drought in Suzhou Taihu Lake Ecological Island (Jinting Town), the water level of Taihu Lake hit the lowest level in the same period in 20 years.

Many ponds and rivers have dried up, and the tea trees and fruit trees on the mountain are seriously short of water and are facing withering.

At present, the local government is making every effort to organize the cadres and the masses to join hands to fight the drought.

"Because of the continuous lack of rain, as far as I know, many streams in the mountains are now cut off, and groundwater is poured into the mountains. If there is no pipe network, the irrigation cost will be high, and some can only give up irrigation." Li Guoxiang said.

Dispatch people, allocate funds, and take multi-party actions to "relieve drought and ensure income"

On the 11th, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Water Resources launched a four-level emergency response to drought and a four-level emergency response to drought defense in six provinces including Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Anhui. Schedule management.

On the 12th, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued 300 million yuan of disaster relief funds for agricultural production to 13 provinces and autonomous regions to support disaster-stricken areas to speed up the restoration of agricultural production.

On the 13th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs also issued an urgent notice to further deploy the work of preventing high temperature and drought and ensuring a bumper harvest of autumn grains.

At the same time, 25 provincial packaging and film contact working groups and 12 scientific and technological teams were sent to key autumn grain provinces and key areas affected by high temperature and drought to guide the implementation of key measures to fight disasters and ensure a bumper harvest.

Recently, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Guizhou, Zhejiang and other places have also adapted measures to local conditions to mitigate the adverse effects of dry weather by implementing artificial rain enhancement operations, strengthening water diversion to protect irrigation, and rationally utilizing existing water resources.

The attached dam of No. 10 Xiaoyang, Zhouxi Town, Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, the water pump takes water from Poyang Lake, and after three-stage irrigation, it irrigates the 5,000 mu of rice fields in the dam and protects the seedlings.

Will the drought in some areas cause fluctuations in grain and vegetable prices?

Li Guoxiang said, "High temperature and dry weather will have an impact on the production of vegetables and fruits in local areas. Most parts of the country have little impact, and some areas still have too much rain."

"From the perspective of the whole of China, the proportion of affected areas is still relatively small, and the impact on the overall bumper harvest of autumn grains will not be obvious. Some production areas in the Yangtze River Basin may be affected." Li Guoxiang said.

"In the face of this extreme weather, on the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen irrigation, and on the other hand, it is necessary to adjust the planting structure of crops according to the weather conditions." Li Guoxiang suggested that the construction of water conservancy projects should be strengthened. investment is huge.
