The Planning and Development Department - Trakhees, the regulatory arm of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, completed about 16,000 transactions carried out by the licensing department in the department during the first half of 2022, with a growth rate of 22% compared to the same period last year, where the licensing department provides corporate licensing services Local and free zones and government relations such as issuing work permits, facility cards and no-objection certificates to official bodies.
In a statement yesterday, Eng. Abdullah Belhoul, CEO of the Planning and Development Department - Trakhees, said that the department was able to achieve remarkable levels of growth at the level of all services provided by the department’s licensing department in the commercial licensing sectors in its special development areas, noting that the department’s Trakhees is keen to promote economic growth and achieve the vision of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, which is to strengthen Dubai's position as a sustainable leading center to support the economic sector at the global level.
Belhoul pointed out the keenness of the Trakhees Department to implement the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to support the economy and enhance Dubai's position as a preferred global investment destination.
He added: "Thanks to the efforts of the specialized work teams and in cooperation with various partners, (Trakhees) seeks to develop and expand the services it provides for the benefit of individuals and companies, such as issuing commercial licenses, issuing work permits, and others, in order to keep pace with the aspirations of business leaders and investors in the emirate."
Belhoul continued: "To confirm the support of the Department of Planning and Development - Trakhees towards providing the required services regarding small and medium enterprises and establishments according to the highest standards, the department received 1029 transactions to reserve a new trade name, at the level of licenses, local and free zone licenses, during the first half of 2022 in the development areas. The private sector that falls under the supervision of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.”
The official statistics issued by the licensing department of the department indicated the growth in the percentage of demand for local licensing services by the department’s customers, both individuals and companies, to reach 7,067 transactions from January until the end of June of this year, where the service of renewing local licenses ranked first with 3426 transactions, Followed by the service of amending local licenses with 1063 transactions, then booking a new trade name, which amounted to 951 transactions, and then issuing a new local license with 627 transactions.
In the same context, the International City ranked first in the list of sites that obtained local license transactions with 203 licenses, then Jumeirah Village Circle came in second place, followed by Palm Jumeirah, then Dragon Market, followed by Palm Deira.
At the level of government services transactions, the statistics indicated a growth in the number of government transactions during the first half of 2022, which was accompanied by a growth in the number of work permits issued by the department, reaching 3,440 work permits approved in Dubai, and 1270 transactions related to the work permit renewal service were completed.
In terms of free zone licenses, the free zone licenses renewal service ranked first in the list of services requested by dealers in this specialty, reaching 527 transactions during the first six months of this year, followed by the service of issuing a commercial permit with 185 transactions, then reserving a trade name. Under the category of free zone licenses with 78 transactions.
