China News Agency, Beijing, August 15 (Reporter Ruan Yulin) Affected by factors such as insufficient release of downstream demand in the off-season, China's steel production showed a rapid decline in July.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in July, the average daily output of crude steel in China was 2.6268 million tons, down 13.1% from the previous month; the average daily output of pig iron was 2.2739 million tons, down 11.3% from the previous month; the average daily output of steel was 3.4271 million tons, down 13.2% from the previous month.

Ge Xin, deputy director of the Lange Steel Research Center, analyzed on the 15th that from the national average daily output of pig iron, crude steel and steel, the daily output of crude steel in July has hit the lowest level in the same period in the past three years.

Judging from the average daily output of key large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises, the release of production capacity of large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises has been significantly limited, indicating that the loss of large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises has intensified.

Statistics from the China Iron and Steel Association show that in July, the daily output of pig iron of key large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises was 1.8553 million tons, down 7.41% from the previous month; the daily output of crude steel was 1.9956 million tons, down 9.26% from the previous month; the daily output of steel was 1.9732 million tons, down 9.11% from the previous month.

Ge Xin said that in August, the domestic steel market was in a period of alternating seasons of traditional low and high seasons. Due to the improvement in the profits of some steel varieties, the enthusiasm of steel mills to resume production is gradually increasing.

Judging from the current changes in blast furnace operating rate, the production release of iron and steel enterprises has shown a trend of low recovery.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics on the 15th, in July, China's crude steel output was 81.43 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.4%.

From January to July this year, China's crude steel output was 609.28 million tons, down 6.4% year-on-year.

Xia Nong, a first-level inspector of the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that in order to maintain policy continuity and stability and consolidate the results of crude steel production reduction last year, in 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the National Bureau of Statistics will continue to develop crude steel Production reduction work.

In the process of reducing crude steel output, we will insist on maintaining pressure, focusing on reducing crude steel output in key areas for air pollution prevention and control, ensuring domestic market demand, and maintaining the smooth operation of the steel market.
