In an interview with the German TV channel ZDF, Müller hailed the European Union's plan to voluntarily reduce gas demand by 15%.

“If all the countries of Europe save on gas, this can stabilize the price, maybe even lower it, and provide enough gas for autumn and winter,” Muller said.

He noted that citizens need to save at least 20% of their total energy consumption in order to avoid gas shortages.

At the moment, gas consumption in Germany has decreased by 14% compared to the same period last year.

Deputy Director General of the National Energy Institute Alexander Frolov spoke about the EU gas policy in an interview with the Economics Today FBA.
