Inflation and its consequences on the price of gasoline has prompted many French people to set up a special "car" budget to get by.

Some have even decided to trust the technology by downloading apps to find the cheapest gas station nearby.

Since the price of fuel has drastically increased, the number of French people who have downloaded an application to save on the road has exploded.

"I've been using this app since petrol went over two euros, I can't afford to put that much money in a tank so I really need to save even the few cents difference for myself. move every day", explains Lucie, a 20-year-old nursing student at the microphone of Europe 1.

Four million more users 

These applications have a very simple operation: you are geolocated and the nearest gas stations are classified from the cheapest to the most expensive.

It's a win-win situation for the creators of these apps.

“There was a very, very strong peak when the price of fuel exceeded two euros,” notes Pierre Auclair, co-founder of Essence & co.

“There, we saw the use of the application increase drastically. We were at around one million users, we went to five million, now we are regularly around three million users.

To save on the road, Waze, Apple's Maps application or Google Maps allow you to find the fastest route to your destination.

It's a good way to reduce the kilometers and therefore the liters of fuel used.
