According to him, the process of certification of this pipeline was terminated for good reasons.

He also announced that there is sufficient capacity for gas supplies via Nord Stream 1.

In addition, the German Chancellor believes that Russia, with the help of Nord Stream and transit through Ukraine, can fulfill its obligations under all agreements on gas supplies to European countries. 

Earlier, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, in an interview with Stern, advocated the launch of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline against the backdrop of a difficult situation with Germany's energy supply.

Prior to this, the authorities of seven cities and communes located on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea wrote a letter to the German government, in which they proposed to consider the use of Nord Stream 2.
