According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to investigate gasoline prices, the average retail price of regular gasoline as of the 1st was 169.9 yen per liter nationwide, down 0.5 yen from last week.



Gasoline prices fell for the fifth week in a row, mainly due to government subsidies pushing down wholesale prices of oil wholesalers.



From the 4th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will pay 37.7 yen per liter from the amount wholesaled to gas stations in various places.



Regarding the outlook for the future, the Japan Petroleum Information Center said, ``There is a view that demand for crude oil, which is an alternative fuel, will increase due to concerns about the supply of Russian natural gas, and gasoline prices may rise again. , will be affected by the movements of oil-producing countries such as the Middle East."
