The UAE participates in the "Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development" conference in Tashkent

The UAE participated in the "Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development" conference, which was held in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on July 25-26, 2022. The country's delegation was headed by His Excellency Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of International Security Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In a speech before the conference, Al Zaabi affirmed the UAE's firm and firm position to support security, peace and stability and achieve humanitarian and economic development in Afghanistan, and said: "Achieving security and stability in Central Asia is important to the region and the world."

He explained that the UAE attaches priority to combating terrorism and extremism in all its forms, pointing to the UAE's condemnation of the two terrorist attacks that took place in Afghanistan last June, one of which targeted a mosque in northeastern Afghanistan, while the other targeted a Sikh temple in the capital, Kabul, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of innocents. Expressing his sincere condolences to the friendly Afghan people and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

In his speech, His Excellency added, "Women's rights and the education of Afghan girls should be a primary goal for all countries" as the main focus of the efforts of the UAE, and in this context, His Excellency reviewed the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mohammed bin Zayed to empower Afghan women, provide job opportunities and ensure life. She is honored by the "Peace Carpets" program to produce carpets and develop the Afghan countryside.

Al Zaabi also reviewed the relief and development assistance provided to the Afghan people, noting the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him", to operate an air bridge carrying integrated food baskets, medical supplies, a medical team and a field hospital to mitigate the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck The provinces of Khost and Paktika in southeastern Afghanistan last month.

He also commended the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Islamic Development Bank in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid through the establishment of the Afghan Humanitarian Trust Fund.

His Excellency Al-Zaabi concluded his speech by wishing to achieve the desired results from the Tashkent International Conference to achieve security, stability and prosperity for the friendly Afghan people.
