“Today, PJSC Gazprom stopped gas supplies to Latvia as part of the July application due to violation of the conditions for gas withdrawal,” the Telegram statement says.

Earlier, the Latvian parliament adopted amendments to the law on energy, which provide for a ban on the supply of Russian gas.

Igor Yushkov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of Russia and a leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund, said in an interview with RT that Latvia has the only underground gas storage (UGS) facility that virtually the entire Baltic region uses.
