In Iraq, supporters of the Shiite leader Moqtada Sadr stormed the Parliament, located in the very secure "green zone", where the political and diplomatic institutions are installed.

The demonstrators had gathered in the center of the city to denounce the candidacy for the post of Prime Minister of Mohammed Shia al Sudani, presented by the opposing political camp.

Night falls on Baghdad.

In the ultra-secure political district of the capital, hundreds of demonstrators force their way into the Iraqi Parliament.

Supporters of Moqtada Sadr now occupy the building, brandishing photos of their leader.

They shout their anger against Mohammed Shia al Sudani, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister, supported by the opposing political camp.

We got into parliament because we don't want corruption, and we don't want Mohammed Al Sudani.

He is corrupt, all the ministries in which he worked, there was corruption!

, Says a protester.

show of strength

Moqtada Sadr,

the big winner of the elections

, called for this demonstration.

He forced all his MPs to resign last month

after failing to form a government.

Since then, the Shiite cleric has multiplied demonstrations of force to remind his adversaries that he has the possibility of destabilizing the country if he wants to.

And this Wednesday, July 27, his supporters shout their anger against the entire political system.

These politicians have destroyed Iraq

, denounces one of them

.

They destroyed our civilization.

We have nothing!

No education, no health, no services, it's been 20 years and that's enough!

They all have to go

.

After a few hours on the spot, the demonstrators finally left the precincts of Parliament, without major violence.

But for how long ?

In the opposing camp, some are now calling for escalation.
