Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has confirmed that it provides electricity and water services in accordance with the highest standards of reliability, availability, efficiency and quality to the population of Dubai, who number about three million and 514 thousand people, while this number is expected to reach 5.8 million people by 2040.

production capacity

The authority stated that its total production capacity is 14,117 megawatts of electricity, and 490 million gallons of desalinated water per day, at a time when it keeps pace with the increasing demand for energy and water in Dubai, with the aim of providing 100% of the energy production capacity in Dubai from clean energy sources by year 2050.

advanced structure

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: "We are working within the framework of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide advanced infrastructure that contributes to consolidating Dubai's position as a preferred destination for living. work, invest and visit, and meet the increasing demand for electricity and water services, according to the highest standards of availability, reliability, efficiency and quality.”

He added: "DEWA is developing plans to expand energy and water infrastructure, based on demand forecasts until 2031. We are working to implement pioneering projects to diversify energy production sources, including the various clean and renewable energy sources and technologies available in Dubai, to achieve the leadership's vision for a brighter and more sustainable future for our future generations. ».

solar collector

According to the authority, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex, which is implemented by the authority, is the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world, with an independent power producer system, and its production capacity will reach 5,000 megawatts by 2030.

The current production capacity of the complex is 1,627 megawatts, using photovoltaic solar panels, while the authority is implementing other projects in the complex, with a total of 1,233 megawatts, using “photovoltaic solar panels” and concentrated solar energy technologies.

The production capacity of clean energy within the energy mix in Dubai is 11.5%, and is expected to reach 14% by the end of this year 2022.

Jebel Ali stations

In turn, the Jebel Ali Complex for Energy Production and Water Desalination, affiliated with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, is one of the main pillars for providing the Emirate of Dubai with reliable, efficient and high-quality electricity and water services.

The authority entered the Guinness Book of Records for the largest energy production facility using natural gas in one location, with a capacity of 9,547 megawatts of electricity.

DEWA owns 43 water desalination units using the “multi-stage flash distillation” technology, with a production capacity of 427 million gallons of desalinated water per day, distributed over six plants, in addition to two units with reverse osmosis technology for seawater desalination, with a production capacity of 63 million gallons of water per day. Thus, the total production capacity of water in the authority reaches 490 million gallons per day.

H . station

The electricity production plant in Al Awir (Station H) is one of the important projects implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, to meet the reserve margin standard specified for the peak demand for electricity in the Emirate of Dubai. The current production capacity of the plant is 1996 megawatts of electricity.

Hassyan Complex

The current production capacity of the Hassyan power complex, which runs on natural gas, is 1,800 megawatts, with an independent product system, and another 600 megawatts will be added during the next year, bringing the production capacity of the complex to 2,400 megawatts.
