Amazon buys a medical services company for 3.9 billion
Companies Netflix loses subscribers for the second consecutive quarter
Amazon
announced this morning that it will increase its
Amazon Prime
service in
Spain
by 38.6%.
It will be from next September 15 when
annual subscriptions will go from the current 36 euros per year to 49.90 euros per year.
This measure taken from the
Jeff Bezos
company is due, as reported in a statement, to the "
increase in inflation
" in Spain.
Thus, these new rates will be applied progressively when subscribers to the
Amazon Prime
service must renew their
subscriptions
in the coming months .
Regarding the monthly rates, they will also be increased by 25%,
from 3.99 to 4.99 euros.
An increase that will also apply to all customers
of this modality after the return of the summer holidays.
"The reasons for this change are due to the general and material increase in spending levels due to the
increase in inflation
that affects the specific costs of the Prime service in Spain and
are due to external circumstances that do not depend on Amazon
", highlights the statement issued by the North American company.
This is the
second time that Amazon raises prices in Spain.
The last change took place in 2018 when the
Amazon Prime
service went from 18 to 36 euros.
Even so, the new rate of 49.9 euros per year maintains the current services, among which the following stand out:
Fast and free shipping of orders.
Amazon Music.
Amazon Prime Video.
Prime Reading.
Twitch, among others.
Netflix also prepares adjustments
Netflix
confirmed last week during the presentation of its results report that it has lost 970,000 subscribers in the second quarter, the largest loss of subscribers in the company's history.
A large part of the
loss of subscriptions
is due both to the lifting of mobility restrictions due to Covid-19 and to the rise of new platforms such as
Prime Video
, with cheaper plans, or
Disney+
.
