“Of course, compared to 2021, we see a slight decrease in traffic volumes, however, if you look at the dynamics over the past four months, growth is also obvious, which is also associated with decisions to support the industry and stabilize ticket prices,” — said the head of state.

He stressed that the task of increasing the volume of domestic transportation for citizens remains among the key ones.

“In the context of sanctions, inadequate, I would say, the decisions of our former Western partners, namely the former, because they refuse to work with us, open political pressure on commercial companies, the air transportation sector was under attack,” Putin said.

On July 8, the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev, said that in the six months of 2022, air traffic volumes decreased by 9% compared to the same period last year.

On May 20, the Russian government allocated more than 1.5 billion rubles to compensate for the operating costs of airports in the south and in the center of Russia.
