Inflation continues to rise and school supplies will not be spared.

On average, the return to school will cost nearly 200 euros for a sixth-grade student.

Invited this Thursday morning at the microphone of Europe 1, Michel Biero, executive director of purchases and marketing of Lidl France, announced various measures implemented in its stores.

INTERVIEW

Inflation, estimated in June at 5.8% over one year according to INSEE, continues to increase in France.

An increasingly difficult situation for the most modest families, especially since it could increase further by the end of the year.

Michel Biero, executive director of purchases and marketing of Lidl France, returned this Thursday to the microphone of Europe 1 on the measures put in place by the group to support consumers.

"7% inflation at the end of the year"

According to him, Lidl stores remain "more advantageous for our customers, because of our model, even if we are also suffering from inflation. The products that have increased the most are pasta, oil, mustards, paper, the paper towel... We are at about 4.5% inflation and we will arrive at 5/5.5% by the end of the summer, then probably at 7% by the end of the year," he recalls.

In an attempt to support consumers, Lidl has "implemented the 'boost', that is to say 5% reduction on the whole store, without limits on the products. We did not expect not to such a success", welcomes Michel Biero.

"It should last until the end of August but we are considering extending it or creating other operations to limit prices."

"20% off" on school supplies

In favor of the implementation of the food voucher, the executive director also announced that Lidl stores were going to remove VAT on school supplies "which will be available in a few days. We are going to help consumers by offering a 20% reduction on them, so by completely eliminating VAT on all school products."
