After the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) comes into effect, more than 90% of products in the region will gradually achieve zero tariffs.

  Xu Xingfeng said that in 2021, the total import of consumer goods will reach 1.73 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, accounting for about 10% of the total import.

The Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, has taken various measures to actively promote the import of high-quality consumer goods to meet the diversified consumption needs of the people.

  In terms of continuing to increase tax cuts, from 2016 to 2021, my country's total tariff level will drop from 9.8% to 7.4%.

In 2022, my country will once again adjust tariffs on 954 imported commodities, involving a variety of consumer goods such as food, medical and health care products, and maternal and infant products.

After RCEP comes into effect, more than 90% of products in the region will gradually achieve zero tariffs.

  As a new type of business, cross-border e-commerce has been expanded in six rounds and six batches. At present, the national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot area has reached 132 cities and regions.

In 2022, relevant departments will further optimize and adjust the list of cross-border e-commerce retail imports, adding 29 products with strong consumer demand, such as ski equipment and household dishwashers, to better meet diversified consumer needs.

  In terms of promoting import trade facilitation, Xu Xingfeng pointed out that the full implementation of the World Trade Organization's "Trade Facilitation Agreement" will further expand the function of the single window, improve customs clearance efficiency, and provide institutional guarantees for expanding the import of high-quality consumer goods.

  In addition, in terms of actively playing a platform role, it will continue to amplify the spillover effect of exhibitions such as the Consumer Expo and the China International Import Expo, and help the global high-quality consumer goods to accurately and effectively connect to the Chinese market.

The Ministry of Commerce is accelerating the cultivation of import trade promotion innovation demonstration zones, establishing distribution centers, logistics centers, trading centers and other professional import platforms for key consumer goods to improve domestic supply.
