Tesla, which was considered a symbol of electric vehicles, is not as popular as it used to be.

Sales in Korea decreased by more than 40% compared to last year.

On the other hand, electric vehicles made by other companies are selling better than before, and reporter Jae Hee-won covered the reason.

Mr. A, who bought the Tesla Model 3 two years ago, found dent marks inside the trunk.

He complained to the company, but to no avail, and one or two other problems were added.

[Tesla driver: Tesla doesn't tell you exactly (the cause) either.

Even paint and stuff like this are common.

Like 'If you buy a pad (control monitor), the car will follow'...

Tesla's status as a representative electric vehicle is rapidly weakening this year.

Tesla sold 6,700 units in the first half of this year, down more than 40% from last year.

Conversely, Hyundai and Kia have turned the situation around and sold more than five times more electric vehicles than Tesla.

Benz and BMW, which are latecomers for electric vehicles, are also rapidly increasing their sales, putting pressure on Tesla.

The problem with the car itself is cited as the reason why Tesla's popularity has waned.

Some of Tesla's disadvantages, such as ride comfort and noise, remain the same, but other companies are closely chasing advantages such as charging speed and mileage.

[Lee Ho-geun/Professor of Automobile Department at Daedeok University: Since Tesla first came out, it is a victory for marketing, not a victory for technology…

.

As long as several automakers offering various types of cars put forth their best effort, (Tesla's) market share will gradually decrease.]

Tesla's continued increase in tea prices also had a negative impact.

The Model 3 basic model, which was 52 million won when it was first released three years ago, rose 34% to 70 million won this year.

In a situation where competitors raise car prices as slowly as possible, Tesla raised prices six times this year alone, so it seems unlikely that sales will increase again.
