Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. announced that it will build a power storage station in Wakayama Prefecture that can store electricity equivalent to the amount used by about 13,000 ordinary households a day in order to stabilize the supply and demand of electricity.

According to the announcement, the power storage station will be built in collaboration with ORIX, which is engaged in the solar power generation business, on the premises of the Kinokawa Substation of Kansai Transmission and Distribution in Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture, at a cost of 8 billion yen.



The electricity that can be stored is 113 megawatt hours, which is equivalent to the amount used by about 13,000 ordinary households a day. We would like to lead to the stabilization of the power generation and the further spread of solar power generation.



This is the first time that Kansai Electric Power has entered the electricity storage business, and it will start operation in April next year and will consider expanding the business in the future.
