“They all pump gas there in the summer, then they get it out all winter.

At the moment, the Latvian storage facility supplies gas to Lithuania, Latvia itself, Estonia, and from Estonia the flow goes to Finland.

Now I think that they will pump Russian gas into the Latvian UGS facility in order to get through the heating season normally, and then there will be a question about the demand for gas in the entire region.

Latvia does not have an LNG receiving terminal (for receiving liquefied natural gas. -

), Lithuania has it, but it needs it itself, ”said Yushkov.

According to him, Poland will not pump gas in transit to Latvia, Estonia plans to build a small LNG terminal, but, according to the specialist, there are big doubts that it will allow gas to be pumped into the Latvian storage facility.

The expert called the decision of the Latvian Parliament reckless, noting that it will affect not only the country itself, but also its neighbors. 

Earlier, the Latvian parliament adopted a law banning gas supplies from Russia.

At the end of May, the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry announced the country's intention to refuse Russian gas supplies.

In April, the Latvian authorities introduced an energy crisis in the supply of petroleum products in Latvia until the end of this year.
