  • Congress Sánchez calls Feijóo a "healer" and affirms that the current inflation is not the fault of the Government of Spain

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced a battery of social measures, many of them requested by United We Can, during his speech in the first Debate on the state of the nation in seven years.

More than 6,000 public housing in Madrid

An operation that, according to the president, will involve the creation of some

12,000 homes

, of which 60% will be public.

This has been one of the requests that the different municipal governments of the capital have been claiming from the State for years.

100% discount on state transport

Sánchez has also announced that there will be a

100% discount on state transport

: "The discount will go from 50% to 100% on all commuter and medium-distance train tickets operated by Renfe. They will be free from September 1 to December 31 this year. We hope that the communities can complement these efforts", he assured.

Exceptional tax on large energy companies and banks

Sánchez has announced that the Government will implement a

tax on the profits of large energy companies

with which it will collect 2,000 million euros.

"It will be an exceptional tax on large energy companies that will be in force in 2023 and 2024, it will affect the extraordinary profits obtained by the dominant groups in the gas and oil sector," he explained.

Likewise, Sánchez has announced that the government will also approve

an "exceptional tax on large financial entities"

"We ask large companies that any extraordinary benefit obtained from this situation affects the workers" and "does not fatten" their profit accounts.

An additional 2,134 million euros in education scholarships

The Government will allocate an additional 2,134 million euros to education scholarships.

Thus, 16-year-old students who already receive a scholarship will receive an

additional 100 euros per month

, a measure that will benefit nearly one million Spanish students
