The euro is at its lowest level in 20 years

The euro fell to its lowest level in 20 years and approached parity with the dollar today, on fears that an energy crisis will push the region into a recession, while the US currency received support from expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates at a faster and stronger pace than its peers.

The euro fell 1.29 percent to 1.0056 per dollar, its weakest level since December 2002.

On the other hand, the dollar rose by one percent against a basket of the main currency, bringing its index to 108.14, its strongest level since October 2002
