Recently, Shanghai University, relying on Shanghai's scientific and educational resources, gave full play to the interdisciplinary integration of machinery, control and other multi-disciplinary and "mechanical engineering" national first-class disciplines, established an interdisciplinary research team, and successfully developed a "automatic nucleic acid sampling robot".

This is also the first non-contact, highly automated and intelligent nucleic acid sampling robot independently developed by a Shanghai university.

The nucleic acid sampling robot has the characteristics of "automatic, non-contact, high-throughput, high-speed, cloud monitoring", etc. It organically integrates a dexterous robotic arm and a small automated production line into one, from swab peeling, positioning and clamping, test tube upper position , the whole process of test tube scanning, oral sampling, sample cutting, and disinfection of the lower part of the test tube to the end of the sampling has achieved "full automation".

Academician Liu Changsheng, President of Shanghai University, cares about and attaches great importance to this work, and promotes Shanghai University to serve the social development. The Shanghai University Fully Automatic Nucleic Acid Sampling Robot Project was established by a joint working group of key teachers from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Automation and the School of Translational Medicine. Secretary Chen Fangquan and Dean Yu Yingjie served as the team leader, Vice President Miao Zhonghua served as the executive team leader, and a technical research and development team composed of elite soldiers from the mechanical and control disciplines. It has overcome many difficulties and successively overcame more than 10 key technologies.
