As the supply and demand of electricity continues to be difficult, Panasonic, a major electrical equipment manufacturer, has announced a policy to strengthen the development of air conditioning equipment that is powered by gas instead of electricity.

Panasonic held a press conference in Tokyo on the 1st, and announced that it would strengthen the expansion of gas-powered commercial air-conditioning equipment called "absorption chillers" to hospitals, factories, public facilities, and so on.

By combining a technology called cogeneration that utilizes the heat generated when power is generated from gas for heating and cooling, carbon dioxide emissions and costs can be significantly reduced.

The company expects that demand for air-conditioning equipment that uses gas will increase in the future as the supply and demand of electricity becomes severe, and has set a goal of increasing sales of the air-conditioning business from 700 billion yen last year to 1 trillion yen in 2025. increase.

Hiroshi Komatsubara, head of the business unit at Panasonic, said, "We believe that gas air conditioning is energy-saving and can contribute to a stable supply of energy in the face of power shortages."
