It has been confirmed that the Polar Research Institute, a national public institution that studies Antarctic ecosystems, voluntarily withdrew their papers after they were published in foreign journals.

In August of last year, researchers published records from birth to death of twin seals online in 'Polar Biology', a journal published by Springer, a leading scientific publisher.

In the paper, the researchers observed the seals every day during the breeding period, and detailed the birth situation on November 9, 2019, that two seal twins were born in 5 minutes.

However, in January, the actual birth scene was not observed at all, and most of the observations were made on a weekly basis, and the thesis was withdrawn voluntarily.

The Polar Research Institute confirmed this fact in April and is currently setting up an investigation committee to find out the truth.
