Six out of ten French people are forced to change their plans for this summer because of inflation, according to an exclusive survey carried out by Odoxa for Europe 1 and FG2A.

Staying with the family, carpooling or even a less distant destination… They do not exclude any avenue for reducing holiday expenses.

"This year, I'm going to my aunt's," says Angélique, 35.

No Airbnb or traveling house this summer: she will spend her family holidays in the south of France.

In one year, rental prices have exploded and this type of accommodation no longer fits into its budget.

"We managed to get by for 1,500 euros for the two weeks, by doing in-depth research, but here we are on 2,000, 2,500 ...", she explains at the microphone of Europe 1, which reveals the Odoxa barometer on the consequences of inflation for the French.

Opt for carpooling

Yannick will try to save on transport.

At 71, he will go to Saint-Malo by carpooling.

A first for this retiree.

"There are several of us in the car so we share the car costs, it's cheaper than the train. The train also increases, the tickets are completely crazy, especially in August", notes-t- he.

Closer destinations

And some, like Viviana, are even forced to change destination.

She wanted to go to Guadeloupe with her three children, like every summer.

But the plane tickets cost him too much.

"We will go to the mountains, it's more pleasant and there is no constraint on the level. In Guadeloupe, two weeks to spend 12,000 euros, it is not possible", she concludes.
