By 2035, the sale of new heat-engine cars will be banned in Europe

The 27 member states of the European Union agreed, at dawn today, to ban the sale of new cars powered by heat engines from 2035, as part of efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from new cars in Europe to zero.

This project, which the European Commission unveiled in July 2021, means, in practice, a ban in all EU countries on the sale of new cars equipped with gasoline or diesel engines, and the subsequent transition to electric motors, knowing that the decision issued on Wednesday notes the possibility of looking into the future in what If engines powered by alternative technologies such as synthetic fuels and hybrid engines are to be allowed.
