The visit of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell to Tehran, made it possible to unblock the deadlock which has lasted since March in the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the major powers.

At the end of their discussions, Josep Borrell and the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs announced the resumption in the coming days of the nuclear negotiations in Vienna.

Since March, Iran and the United States had blamed each other for the standoff.

Iran demanded an end to sanctions against the Revolutionary Guards, the country's elite army, which Washington refused.

Iranians want the economic benefits of 2015

The resumption of negotiations is therefore a first success for Josep Borrell, but that does not mean that all disagreements between Iranians and Americans have been settled.

Indeed, the head of Iranian diplomacy, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, clearly underlined that Iran must be able to benefit from all the economic advantages of the 2015 agreement

 . unacceptable to Iran.

We hope that this time the United States will take the necessary steps responsibly

 ,” Hossein Amir Abdollahian said.

Time is running out for Westerners.

Indeed, Iran has greatly accelerated its nuclear program in recent months, in particular the installation of ultramodern centrifuges to enrich uranium at an increasingly high level.
