Following its record-breaking maiden voyage from Stuttgart to Cassis last April, the research prototype has raised the bar even higher with a 1,202 kilometer journey from Stuttgart to Silverstone, UK.

After having to deal with a motorway closure and a diversion near Stuttgart, the Vision EQXX crossed the French border near Strasbourg, then crossed northern France at motorway speed to Calais, where it took the Eurotunnel.

Continuing its journey in the UK, it took the M25 around London and then stopped at the Mercedes-AMG team headquarters in Brackley, where the Formula 1 and Formula E experts who helped develop its state-of-the-art drivetrain were waiting for him there.

The Mercedes Vision EQXX then continued on to Silverstone, where it was met by Dutch driver Nyck de Vries, who races for the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team.

Making the most of the opportunity, he completed no less than 11 laps to finish draining the battery.

Throughout this journey, the Vision EQXX took advantage of its innovative thermal management system to achieve an average fuel consumption of 8.3 kWh/100 km, despite heavy traffic and summer temperatures.

When is the next record?
