The Romanian government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and DB World, to develop a new infrastructure in the port of Constana, with the aim of turning it into one of the most important centers for ro-ro cargo ships on the Black Sea.

The memorandum was signed by the Romanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Soren Mihai Grindano, the CEO and General Manager of dbworld UAE and Jafza, and Abdullah bin Demaithan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai.

The Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure aims to develop a new and main container terminal for ro-ro cargo, with the aim of enhancing the movement of cargo ships in the Black Sea port.

This will require a huge investment and improved procedures to speed up the transit of ro-ro vessels through the port of Constana.

The memorandum of understanding allows Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation to work with DB World to modernize and develop the infrastructure on Quay 2-S in the port.

Under the agreement, DB World will implement the development project while providing the required investments in physical or electronic assets to participate in transforming Constanta into a major center for imports to Europe, by developing the port's infrastructure, in addition to providing it with an advanced scanner in the new terminal. DB World also provides a complete coordination service for three railways, with a length of 600 meters each, capable of handling three complete trains, each connected to 30 cargo wagons to transport containers at one time.
