The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) maintained its positive expectations regarding the continued economic growth of the UAE, in its report issued yesterday on the developments of its economic forecasts for the month of June.

“OPEC” confirmed that the number of tourists registered in the country during the first quarter of this year approached the levels recorded during the period before the “Covid 19” pandemic, with the support of the successful organization of the “Expo 2020 Dubai” exhibition, as the number of visitors to Dubai since The beginning of the year until the end of the first quarter of this year to 3.97 million visitors, a significant increase of 1.27 million visitors compared to the same period last year.

The report indicated that tourism spending was a boost to support the economic recovery, as the travel and tourism sector constitutes about 16% of the country's GDP.

The report pointed out that the "Standard & Poor's Global Purchasing Managers Index" in the UAE rose from 54.6 last April to 55.6 last May, recording the highest growth rate in five months.
