For the sixth year in a row, the UAE topped the Middle East and North Africa region in the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022 report, issued by the Global Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development, in the Swiss city of Lausanne, where the country maintained its leadership in first place regionally in the general ranking And in the 12th place globally, ahead of countries such as: Luxembourg, Canada, Germany, China, Austria, Australia, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France and Japan, so that the UAE remains the only Arab country to lead the region, for six consecutive years.

According to the results of the report, which "Emirates Today" obtained a copy of, the UAE ranked first globally in 19 indicators, and ranked among the top five globally in 65 indicators, and among the top 10 globally in 100 indicators out of a total of 334 indicators, covered by the report. With regard to the main axis of “government efficiency”, in which the UAE ranked third globally, the country ranked among the top 10 globally in four of the sub-themes that this axis includes: tax policy (4th place globally), and finance The year (the fifth globally), and commercial legislation (the ninth globally), in addition to the societal framework axis in which the country ranked ninth globally.

The Global Competitiveness Yearbook report relies in its methodology on questionnaires collected by 33.33%, and on statistics and data provided by countries with a percentage of 66.67%.

The report is based on its classification of the countries it covers on four main axes, including: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure, under which 20 sub-axes fall, covering 334 competitive indicators in various economic, financial, legislative, administrative and social fields. It achieved third place globally in the axis of government efficiency, and sixth globally in the axis of economic performance.
