  MC12 opened in Geneva, Switzerland on June 12.

Wang Wentao said at the plenary session that the WTO reform should promote economic globalization, and promote economic globalization toward a more open, inclusive, inclusive, balanced, and win-win direction through the updating of rules and mechanism guarantees; the reform should benefit all members , to protect the legitimate rights and interests of developing members.

  He said that China is willing to work with all parties to promote the MC12 to achieve results in the fields of epidemic response and food security, and to promote the WTO to play a greater role in the recovery of the world economy.

  Wang Wentao said that China is an important contributor to international anti-epidemic cooperation and has provided more than 2.2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to more than 120 countries and international organizations.

China supports the early WTO consensus on intellectual property exemptions for COVID-19 vaccines, and is willing to make Chinese contributions to this end.

  Wang Wentao said that the fundamentals of China's economy with strong resilience, sufficient potential and long-term improvement have not changed.

China is accelerating the construction of a new development pattern and unswervingly promoting high-level opening up, which will surely bring more market opportunities, growth opportunities and cooperation opportunities to the world.

  MC12 is jointly hosted by the WTO and Kazakhstan. It is the first time that the WTO has held a ministerial meeting in four and a half years.

Ministers and representatives of 164 WTO members attended the meeting.
