• Consumption Fines of up to half a million euros for companies that fail to comply with the food waste law

The Congress of Deputies has blocked the path with the votes of the

PSOE

to create a tax for large fortunes proposed by United

We Can

in a debate that has once again laid bare the division between the two partners of the Government on this issue and on the different rhythms to

increase the fiscal pressure in Spain

to raise the collection.

Both have reproached each other for being wrong.

The Socialists have aligned themselves with the PP and other opposition parties, such as Vox and Ciudadanos, to tip the balance and knock down the bill presented by their colleagues in the Government.

In contrast, the parliamentary partners of the Executive, with the exception of the PNV, have lamented that, with this behavior, the PSOE dedicates itself to "doing politics for the elites" (EH Bildu) and to demonstrate that if it does not carry out a fiscal reform to raise taxes to the rich is because "he doesn't want to" (ERC).

The initiative of the purples intended to levy a new tax on those who have

assets worth more than 10 million

euros and this would be a complementary form of the Wealth tax.

The

PSOE

has justified that this proposal is not "agreed" between the two members of the Government, it runs the risk of causing double taxation (because those assets are already taxed in the Wealth Tax) and because it has a "

doubtful collection efficiency

".

The socialist

Patricia Blanquer

has reproached the spokesman for the United We may have made a "mistake" by opening this debate now.

"The only thing he achieves today is to allow the right to say falsehoods and make a totally populist speech," she has reproached.

Before her,

Txema Guijarro

, from United We Can, had expressed her disagreement that the Government had stopped the tax reform on the grounds of the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

"That is not a reason to paralyze the tax reform, if anything to speed it up," she pointed out.

In the same way, he has expressed his regret for the Government's times, since "against" the criteria of the purples, the Executive decided to wait for a committee of experts to make some recommendations.

That white paper was published a few days after the war and has not been put into practice.

Pebble has stressed that not taking any action is the security that "you're wrong."

For the rest of the groups, the internal battle within the Government has not gone unnoticed and there have been quite a few spokespersons who have contextualized the pulse of United We Can by taking this proposal to the Plenary Session of Congress as part of their "guerrilla".

"

I suppose that it is about launching a message that has more to do with the campaign in Andalusia

than with the will for this bill to go ahead", criticized the ERC deputy Joan Margall.

It is a proposal, Ferran Bel (PDeCAT) has described, "populist elect" designed "not to stir up the PP but to stir up the PSOE."

For the rest, the debate has aired not only the discrepancies of the Government's partners, but also the differences between the Government's own allies in Congress.

The PNV has distanced itself while ERC and EH Bildu have put pressure to address this and other reforms to increase the fiscal pressure on the "richest"
