Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan, a major beverage maker, has decided to raise the price of beverages in PET bottles from October in response to rising PET bottle procurement costs and energy prices.

According to the announcement, about 120 items such as beverages in PET bottles such as cola and green tea will be targeted, and the suggested retail price will be increased by 6% to 18% from the shipment on October 1st.

Of these, "Coca-Cola" in a 500 ml PET bottle will be 160 yen from the current 140 yen excluding tax.

In addition, we plan to raise the price of some alcoholic beverages.

The company explains that the reason for the price increase is that the procurement cost of PET bottles, the price of raw materials such as sugar are rising, and the soaring energy price is also raising the logistics cost.

In May, the company raised some of the prices of products in 1.5-liter and 2-liter PET bottles, and it is difficult to absorb the increase in costs by corporate efforts alone.

Among the major beverage companies, "Suntory", "Asahi Soft Drinks", "Ito En", and "Kirin Beverage" have already announced price increases from October regarding their main products in PET bottles.
