According to České Noviny, the plant mainly refines Russian oil and exports most of its products.

“A new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, including a ban on the supply of most Russian oil, will gradually jeopardize the supply of the plant's products to the Central European market, as well as to the domestic Slovak market,” the report says.

On June 2, the French delegation to the EU Council announced that the permanent representatives of the member states of the European Union approved the legal texts of the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, including the oil embargo.

The decision provides for a ban on oil imports from Russia by sea, which, as the French side indicates, will be supplemented "in the near future" by a ban on oil imports from Russia via pipeline.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak stressed that as a result of sanctions, a large shortage of petroleum products in the European Union may arise.
