You never thought it was possible, yet the Mercedes-AMG One uses a real F1 engine.

In this case, a 1.6 liter hybrid V6, with a single turbocharger which alone benefits from an electric assistance of 90 kW!!

However, to increase the longevity of this V6 and allow the use of conventional 98 unleaded petrol, the maximum rotational speed has been reduced… to 11,000 rpm!

The lithium-ion energy storage system is also specific to Mercedes-AMG.

Its capacity of 8.4 kWh is sufficient for a 100% electric range of 18.1 km.

Charging takes place via AC power and the 3.7 kW on-board charger.

In addition, the battery can be powered by recuperation or from the heat engine.

In addition to the EV mode, four other driving programs are provided: Race Safe, Race, Race Plus and finally Strat 2, the most extreme setting equivalent to the qualifying configuration of an F1.

However, these last two can only be used on the circuit.

They control a 37mm lowering of the trim via the active pushrod suspension, and bring active aerodynamics into play (3 possible configurations aimed at promoting downforce or top speed).

5 engines

As surprising as it may seem, this car is equipped with no less than 5 engines: the gasoline V6, and 4 electric motors.

One driving the turbocharger up to 100,000 rpm before the exhaust gases take over, one mated to the petrol engine and one per front wheel.

As you will have understood, the One has all-wheel drive.

AMG announces a standard consumption of only 8.7 l/100 km, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 198 g/km with an electrical consumption of 32 kWh/100 km.

As long as we talk about "numbers", the total power of this Mercedes-AMG One is 1063 hp (the combustion engine delivers 574), which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.7 s (7.0 s up to 200 km/h and 15.6 s up to 300 km/h), with a top speed limited to 352 km/h.

A rocket !

A minimum of luxury

Who says technology from F1 inevitably thinks of the monocoque is made of carbon fiber resting on an aluminum frame.

Inside, the 2 fixed bucket seats (the driving position is adjusted via the steering column and the pedals), the digital instrumentation and the almost rectangular steering wheel also refer us to the world of F1.

The only luxuries present are electric windows, air conditioning and an infotainment system.

Mercedes has not communicated the price of this monster, but it seems obvious that it will take several million euros.

The Mercedes-AMG One will be presented to the public for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June.
