Sheryl Sandberg, the manager responsible for day-to-day business, is stepping down from Meta, the parent company of Facebook, after 14 years in office.

She will leave the company in the fall but will remain on Meta's board of directors, Sandberg wrote on Facebook.

She doesn't know what the future holds for her.

But she plans to focus on her foundation and philanthropic work in the future.

Meta shares fell about 4 percent as a result of the news of the departure.
