Inflation has never been as strong as in 1985. In France, this new acceleration would be 5.2%, according to INSEE.

And this concerns all sectors: energy, food, raw materials.

At the exit of a large DIY store in Strasbourg, customers can only see these price increases.

Inflation spares no sector.

Energy, food, raw materials... The French are seeing price increases with each purchase.

And for good reason, inflation has never been as strong as in 1985. When leaving a large DIY store in Strasbourg, customers complain about the phenomenon, a real brake on their purchasing power. 

"There are terrible increases, especially in wood"

Today, Bernard is reasonable: he just bought enough to make an automatic sprinkler.

This retiree, passionate about DIY, sees his bill go up every time he comes here.

"We see that there is an increase, that's clear. Especially in the woods: there are terrible increases", he laments at the microphone of Europe 1.

A price increase that has serious consequences

The price of wood has effectively almost doubled since September.

Same for aluminum or steel.

Sébastien works at SNCF.

He came to buy something to renovate a room.

"You can see the shopping cart, there's not much… Five cans of paint, four blinds, brushes, a sander, for €1,100. What a salary, a minimum wage!", he exclaims. it on Europe 1.

And for Ibrahim, an electrician, these price increases have serious consequences.

"The electric cables that we bought for 30 euros two years ago, today they are at 40-45 euros. There is also fuel, but above all shortages. At my supplier of radiators for example, I am waiting five or six months now, as opposed to two weeks two or three years ago," he explains.

These increases are 15 to 20% on average.
