In the appeal, the parliamentarian noted that the legislation guarantees a citizen in the event of an insured event the return of funds stored in the bank in the amount of up to 1.4 million rubles.

The depositor has the right to receive this maximum compensation regardless of what kind of deposit he had - ruble, currency or multicurrency.

“Against the background of attempts by external sanctions pressure on Russia, including on its financial and credit organizations, as well as in order to increase the attractiveness of the national currency as a savings tool, I ask you to evaluate the feasibility of increasing the insurance amount on deposits to 2.8 million rubles in relation to citizens who keep personal funds in the bank exclusively in Russian rubles," the text of the appeal reads.

Earlier, the head of the Accounts Chamber, Alexei Kudrin, spoke about the strengthening of the ruble.
