With the increasing number of trucks queuing to unload the goods, the Shanghai Express Co., Ltd. transshipment center started a busy day: in the rumbling sound of the machine starting, batches of parcels that were unloaded on the conveyor belt began to be sorted and circulated and reloaded into the trucks. to the next destination.

On May 25, The Paper reporters visited the transshipment centers of several express companies including YTO Express, Shentong Express and Jitu Express in Qingpu District, Shanghai.

As major express companies entered Shanghai’s whitelist for resumption of work and production at the end of April, the volume of express shipments entering and leaving the port of many companies has gradually recovered. Among them, the inbound volume has recovered to about 20% of the normal, and the outbound volume has recovered to about 30%.

In addition, several persons in charge of the transshipment center told The Paper that the delivery of express parcels in Shanghai is accelerating, and some areas can already deliver bulk parcels, including intra-city and out-of-market delivery.

At present, the inbound volume of Yuantong Puxi Consolidation Center is between 200,000 and 300,000 tickets a day, which has returned to about 1/5 of the normal number, and the outbound volume is between 300,000 and 500,000 tickets, which has recovered to 1/3 of the normal number.

The daily inbound volume of Jitu Puxi Transshipment Center is about 120,000, which has recovered to less than 20% of the normal volume, and the outbound volume is less than 200,000 votes, which has recovered to about 30% of the normal number.

Qian Changyin, manager of the Shanghai Transshipment Center of Shentong Express, located in Zhonggu Town, Qingpu District, told The Paper at the scene, "The resumption of express delivery is proceeding in an orderly manner, but there is still a big gap between the work rhythm and the normal period. For example, the transshipment center is understaffed, The dispatcher failed to come out of the community, etc. However, the headquarters and franchised outlets are all applying with the local government. With the increase of whitelist dispatchers, the speed of recovery of the express delivery business is also accelerating.”

Parcel delivery is accelerating: inbound parcels have become over 80% of e-commerce parcels

"It has survived for two months, and there can be no mistakes in the final stage." Several Shanghai area leaders of express delivery companies told The Paper that after the resumption of work in the transit center was approved, the workflow for handling parcel sorting operations has returned to normal.

Huang Jinggang, deputy general manager of YTO Express Shanghai, told reporters, "All employees have undergone professional training, and there is a lot of training time during this period, just to ensure the resumption of production and to deal with the full opening up. The priority is still to focus on epidemic prevention."

Huang Jinggang introduced that before the closure and control, the headquarters of Yuantong made a judgment and started the front-end interception work in advance. Therefore, the number of incoming shipments has gradually decreased since late March.

At present, the backlog of tickets in the shipping center has basically been processed, and the tickets that came to Shanghai but could not be delivered have also been returned.

Recently, the surging news reporter learned from Vipshop that the logistics and distribution of Vipshop are gradually recovering.

Since May, Vipshop has strengthened communication with SF Express, and it is expected that the delivery speed of orders in Shanghai will be further improved.

It is understood that Vipshop's Okura in East China is not in Shanghai, and most of the orders in Shanghai are sent to Shanghai from other places.

So far, Shanghai has delivered hundreds of thousands of Vipshop orders.

The surging news reporter also learned that the current inbound tickets from transshipment centers including Yuantong, Shentong, Jitu and other express delivery centers are all recent orders.

Among them, Yuantong 80% are e-commerce parcels, and 20% are personal spare parts.

E-commerce parcels account for more than 90% of Jitu's inbound shipments, and personal parts account for about 5%.

Since May, the resumption of work at YTO’s first-level outlets accounts for about one-third of the city’s more than 200 branches.

Huang Jinggang introduced, "At present, every district in Shanghai has resumed the delivery of Yuantong Express, but the full coverage of the district has not yet been achieved. If it can be delivered normally, it will actually be faster than the original time limit, because the volume is small now. The sorting speed is also fast. Because the resumption of work at the outlets varies, some tickets are directly delivered by the first-level outlets, and the large outlets support the small outlets during this period.”

As of May 25, 50% of Shentong's outlets have resumed work, with 106 outlets, an increase of 15 from the previous month.

Qian Changyin said that the silent policy was suddenly implemented in some areas, and many express mails would not be intercepted at the front end, so the distribution pressure was transferred to the end outlets.

"The resumption of work at outlets and the resumption of delivery capacity are different concepts. It is still necessary to gradually promote the resumption of work and production at the end of the delivery according to the epidemic situation." Huang Jinggang told reporters that Yuantong is like a post station or the number of particularly small terminals at the end has reached several thousand in the city. One, their resumption of work needs the approval of the street community, but the approval time is not uniform due to the different epidemic prevention policies in different places.

Continuous optimization of national routes: personal parts delivery has gradually resumed

Personal parts delivery business has gradually resumed in some areas.

Several responsible persons told reporters that in addition to the orders placed on the e-commerce platform, the rest of the delivery items placed in the express APP or to a small extent can be defined as loose parts.

It is understood that since May 25, Shanghai Post has resumed the EMS express mail service for personal delivery in an orderly manner.

Under the premise of meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, individual users of non-agreement customers can go to the nearby EMS sales department to deliver express mail if conditions permit. Go to the EMS network for delivery by yourself.

Previously, the EMS express mail service to the Yangtze River Delta has been resumed since April 27, and the EMS intra-city document delivery service and items within 3KG will be resumed from May 7.

"The outbound parcels of the Shentong Transshipment Center are mainly concentrated in the parcels of e-commerce customers in Shanghai, but the outlets have basically received parcels for the whole society. Some areas have already achieved it. It's just that personal mailing is strictly controlled, so the current volume is not much." Qian Changyin told The Paper.

Compared with e-commerce pieces, it is more difficult to disinfect small pieces.

"The risk of receiving 10 tickets for loose parts is higher than 500 tickets for e-commerce." Guo Yuan, manager of the operation department of Jitu Express Shanghai Agency District, introduced to reporters as an example, an e-commerce customer assumes that a warehouse holds 500 tickets, and when loading on-site It will kill and disinfect, and only contact a few fixed personnel.

The people who come into contact with the spare parts are different every day, and there are potential risks. In addition, the spare parts basically only issue one ticket per person.

At present, 30-40% of Jitu's more than 200 outlets in Shanghai have resumed work, among which Jiading, Qingpu, Songjiang, Jinshan, Fengxian and other areas have opened more outlets.

Guo Yuan introduced that all the parcels sent to these places across the country can be transferred to Shanghai through transit.

However, shipments from Shanghai are subject to partial restrictions.

"Now Jitu Express is sent to the whole country, and it can be transited mainly through several places, such as Huai'an, Wuxi, Central China, Wuhan, Zhejiang Hangzhou, Henan Zhengzhou, Anhui Hefei and other places."

How can I know exactly whether the express service in my area has resumed?

Several responsible persons introduced to reporters that merchants on the e-commerce platform can see in the system where they cannot deliver goods across the country, explain to customers and delay delivery.

For other personal parcels delivered, you can enter the sending address and receiving address on the relevant express APP. If the nearby outlets have not resumed work and cannot be delivered or collected, there will be a corresponding prompt on the system page.

"Shentong Transshipment Center to the outlet or outlet to the center to the periphery, the link has been opened." Qian Changyin introduced that there were only tens of thousands of tickets entering the port in the early stage of the resumption of work, but most of the routes were opened in the past two days, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei , Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Sichuan-Chongqing, Shandong, Fujian, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Hunan, Guangzhou, Henan and other places can enter Shanghai, and there are 25 network vehicles entering the port on May 25.

"The link has been gradually opened, but many packages are still stuck in the last mile." Qian Changyin introduced that some couriers could not return to the community when they came out, and some chose to live in the car to ensure delivery.

In addition, after some trucks have pulled the goods from the transfer center, some branch personnel may start sorting directly on the road to speed up the delivery.

Qian Changyin also introduced that after the national lines are basically opened, the most important thing now is to gradually optimize the lines.

"Originally, there may be multiple lines in a province that take the form of transit, but now we choose direct delivery to improve the timeliness of express delivery and reduce the number of damaged parts."

Courier companies prepare for 618 and make personnel support plans

For the upcoming "618" e-commerce shopping festival, express delivery companies began to "prepare for a rainy day".

"In response to 618, there is no problem with YTO's manpower." Huang Jinggang said that the normal operation of the container center requires more than 1,200 employees.

At present, the workload is not large. In total, there are more than 1,000 people living in the Yuantong dormitory who take turns to work.

"Whether it is an operator or a front-line younger brother, the employees who are sealed and controlled at the headquarters have a guaranteed minimum salary to reduce the loss of talents. When more people enter the transfer center in the later stage, the operation is basically no problem."

At present, a total of 240 employees in Jitu's transfer center are participating in the resumption of work, accounting for less than half of the normal period.

Guo Yuan introduced, "In the short term, there will be enough manpower, but in the later period, around June 7th and 8th, additional personnel may be required."

Guo Yuan also said that if the actual volume of "618" exceeds expectations, Jitu may also apply for personnel coordination from other venues across the country or the surrounding labor market, and add some temporary workers to operate.

"In order to meet the needs of merchants' sales and citizens' consumption, we are formulating a careful security plan, especially to increase resources such as personnel." Qian Changyin introduced that he hopes to prevent employees from returning to work in closed production and point-to-point short-distance transfer in centralized dormitory areas. supplementary staff.

Qian Changyin said that as the express delivery industry that protects people's livelihood, the industry is under great pressure, and the public is encouraged to buy urgently needed materials first.

However, in order to protect consumers, courier companies will also do their best to ensure delivery and collection.
