Last month's shipments of digital home appliances such as TVs and car navigation systems to the domestic market were the same as last year due to the impact of restrictions on going out in Shanghai, China due to the spread of the new corona infection, which had a greater impact on local production. It has dropped by more than 20% compared to the month.

According to JEITA = Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, which is made by electrical equipment manufacturers, the shipment value of digital home appliances to the domestic market last month was 90.4 billion yen, a decrease of 20.4% from the same month last year.

The decrease of more than 20% is the first time in half a year since October last year when the impact of semiconductor shortage was serious.

Due to the continued strict restrictions on going out due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Shanghai, China, local production of home appliances was delayed, domestic shipments were affected, and the movement to reduce automobile production spread, car navigation systems. It seems that the cause is the drop in shipments such as.

By product, "video equipment" such as TVs and recorders decreased 27% to 37.6 billion yen, and "automobile-related equipment" such as car navigation systems decreased 16.9% to 46.7 billion yen.

On the other hand, sales of "audio-related equipment" such as speakers increased by 3% to 6.1 billion yen.

Regarding the outlook for the future, JEITA said, "Due to the shortage of semiconductors and restrictions on going out in Shanghai, it is expected that the severe situation will continue for the time being, mainly for automobile-related products."
