Catalonia

is the community that has suffered the

greatest loss of business turnover

in the

first quarter

of the year, after suffering a

flight of companies

-mainly to the Community of Madrid- that represented total revenues of

553 million euros.

No other region in the country has suffered such an outflow in terms of billing, according to data from the consulting firm

Informa

released this Wednesday.

In total,

225 companies

that registered this combined volume of sales have left Catalan soil to locate their headquarters in another region.

Of the 553 million turnover that have left Catalonia,

82.4% have moved to Madrid.

"Since 2017,

Madrid has been the great beneficiary of the changes of address from Catalonia

as a result of

the independence process

, but there are other factors that can favor Madrid such as its geographical location, the capital status, the characteristics of the region's image, the number of

regulations

to apply, personal qualification by having

more university students

and

taxation , "explains

Nathalie Gianese,

Director of Studies of the firm

, to EL MUNDO .

On this last point, the expert recalls that although the taxation of companies is the same throughout the national territory, there are

many more own taxes in Catalonia

than in Madrid and a different regulation for other taxes such as

Patrimony and Inheritance and Donations

, which They tend to affect businessmen.

In the region chaired by

Isabel Díaz Ayuso

, these last two taxes are

discounted at 100%

, so in practice they are not applied, something that is very beneficial for the owners of some companies.

Although

Catalonia

is the one that has suffered

the greatest drop in business turnover,

it has received the arrival of 193 companies with an aggregate sales volume of 406.8 million euros, with which its

net balance

in the first quarter is

32 companies less and 146.18 million less billing.

It is the second region with the worst balance of companies, behind the

Comunidad Foral de Navarra,

which has

46 fewer;

and the second also in loss of turnover, behind Andalusia, whose net balance is 270.45 million euros.

Madrid adds 400 million

Madrid

is the community with the

greatest positive balance

between arrivals and departures, since it added

88 more companies in that period,

and it is also the one that earns the most in terms of turnover:

408.96 million euros

.

In total, the region has received 469 companies while 381 have moved. It is the one with the most business movement, followed far behind by Catalonia, with only 193 arrivals (59% less than Madrid) and 225 departures (-41 %).

Among the companies that have moved their headquarters to this community from Catalonia are

Viatris Pharmaceuticals -dedicated

to the wholesale trade of pharmaceutical products- with a turnover of more than 220 million euros, the largest that has moved this quarter-;

the transport company

Soluciones de Renting y Movilidad,

which rents cars and light motor vehicles, with 91 million euros;

and

Petit Forestier Spain,

dedicated to the rental of trucks, which had a turnover of 68.6 million.

Olivia Petroleum

has also moved to Madrid ,

which is dedicated to the wholesale trade of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and has nearly 120 million euros in sales, from Andalusia;

and

Aceisur 2010

, an intermediary in the trade of food products, beverages and tobacco, with sales revenues of 43.6 million and also Andalusian.

In fact,

one in four companies that Madrid received

between January and March came from

Catalonia

, 16% from Andalusia, 10% from the Valencian Community and 9% from Castilla y León.

In terms of billing data, the companies that changed their headquarters in the first quarter accumulated

joint revenues of 1,646 million euros

, of which

half went to the Community of Madrid

(821 million, of which 55% came from Catalonia).

However,

Catalonia

has also received some companies that have decided to leave Madrid, such as

Agility Spain

, engaged in activities related to transport, with a turnover of 121 million euros, or

Cronology

, manufacturing paints, varnishes and coatings, printing inks and putties, which entered 46.5 million.
