Asahi Soft Drinks, a major beverage maker, said that the price of crude oil is soaring and the procurement cost and distribution cost of PET bottles are rising. Announced that the price will be increased from 8 yen to 35 yen per bottle.

According to the announcement, about 60% of all PET bottles and canned products such as mainstay lactic acid drinks, carbonated drinks, mineral water, etc. will be sold at the suggested retail price excluding tax from the shipment on October 1st. It means raising from 8 yen to 35 yen.

Of these, the price of 500 ml PET bottle products will increase for the first time in about 24 years, and the prices of the main products "Calpis Water" and "Mitsuya Cider" will increase by 20 yen from 140 yen to 160 yen.

Regarding the reason for the price increase, the company is raising the procurement cost and distribution cost of PET bottles due to the soaring crude oil price, and the purchasing price of raw materials such as sugar and fruit juice is also rising due to the tight supply and demand and the sharp depreciation of the yen. However, it is expected that procurement costs will continue to rise in the future.

On the other hand, most vending machine products will not raise prices.

Suntory, a major beverage company, has announced that it will raise the price of most PET bottle products by 20 yen from October, and the price of drinks that are familiar to people is increasing.
