Toyota Motor Corporation announced that it will suspend operations at some factories in Japan by next month due to the delay in procurement of parts due to restrictions on going out in Shanghai, China due to the spread of the new corona infection.

The outlook for production this year remains unchanged.

According to Toyota Motor Corporation, 16 lines of 10 factories in Japan, including the Motomachi Plant and Tahara Plant in Aichi Prefecture, and the Daihatsu Plant, will be shut down for up to 5 days from the 25th to next month.

Due to the delay in parts procurement due to restrictions on going out in Shanghai, China, some factories were shut down for the same reason in the middle of this month, but the impact has been prolonged.

However, the outlook for production for this year is 9.7 million units, and there is no change.

Toyota Motor Corp. commented, "It is still difficult to look ahead, but we will continue to make efforts to deliver as many units as possible to our customers as soon as possible."

Among automakers, Honda and Mitsubishi Motors are also reducing production at some factories this month due to the delay in parts procurement from Shanghai, and the impact is spreading.
