“From May 20, 2022, banks will be able to sell any cash foreign currency to citizens without restrictions, with the exception of US dollars and euros,” the regulator said in a statement.

At the same time, the current restrictions on the sale of cash US dollars and euros remain until September 9, 2022.

The Central Bank explained that the decision to sell other foreign currencies without restrictions is due to the presence of balances of foreign banknotes in banks.

Earlier, the regulator said that there were no restrictions on the transfer of rubles by Russians to accounts opened abroad.

According to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, from March 1, it is prohibited for residents of the country to transfer foreign currency to their accounts or deposits in foreign banks.
