After the fully electric i4 M50 and iX M60 Performance models, the XM will be the first hybrid model from BMW's sports division.

It will combine a petrol V8 with an electric motor for combined torque and power values of 800 Nm and 650 hp, which will pass to the road through a hybrid-specific M xDrive four-wheel drive system.

For their testing on public roads, the development and test engineers established an exceptionally demanding and varied course profile.

The intelligently controlled interaction of the new 8-cylinder engine and electric motor can thus be tested and fine-tuned in the most diverse conditions: from intermediate sprints on the motorway to winding country roads and even city traffic.

Steep mountain passages and narrow roads provide the ideal terrain to demonstrate the driving dynamics potential of the M xDrive system, including the electronically controlled differential lock in the rear axle transmission.

With a WLTP electric range of around 80 km, the XM will be able to be driven not only in built-up areas, but also over longer distances in near-silent cruising mode with no local emissions.

The XM will be fitted as standard with an adaptive M Professional suspension, combined with an electromechanical roll stabilization system using 48 V technology. Integral active steering will also be part of the standard equipment.
